FAQ's

  • I find the closing clip difficult to open

    Answer

    The clip may seem difficult to open, especially when you first try. However, this quickly becomes easy after a few uses. Remember, the clip has been specially designed to offer some resistance to being opened in order to avoid the following risks:
    - to prevent baby from opening the product
    - to prevent the product from opening accidentally, if it falls, for example.

  • I sometimes find it difficult to close the clip

    Answer

    To avoid this, make sure the ring fits firmly onto the bottle itself and keep pressing the top of the ring while you try to close the clip. In this way the clip will open and close smoothly.

  • The closing clip twists when I want to close the bottle

    Answer

    The closing clip may become twisted at the sides when you close the bottle. This does not mean the clip will break as it has been designed to be very flexible.
    To avoid this, make sure the ring fits firmly onto the bottle itself and keep pressing the top of the ring when closing the clip. In this way the clip will open and close smoothly.

  • The closing clip on my blue Easy Clip is turning white at the sides

    Answer

    After repeated use, the closing clip on your blue Easy Clip may turn white at the sides. Don't worry! This discolouration in no way means the clip has weakened. The plastic material is intended for repeated use and its flexibility means it won't break.

  • I worry that my baby will open the bottle on his own

    Answer

    If your baby is older and is dextrous enough, he will try to open his Easy Clip bottle! Just remember we have developed a very resistant clip to precisely avoid this kind of problem. However, as with any screw-on bottle top, we will never be able to stop baby trying to imitate mummy and daddy!

  • The teat of my Easy Clip bottle collapses/becomes squashed when my child is drinking

    Answer

    A teat collapses or becomes squashed when the air control valve (which prevents colic and possetting) does not properly engage. The Easy Clip closing mechanism is designed to avoid this problem. However, the material used for the teat may cause the valve to stick. In this case, simply remove the teat and gently pull on both sides of the valve (on the neck of the teat) to unblock it.

  • What is the best way to prepare baby’s bottles?

    Answer

    Make sure the bottle you are going to use is clean and sterile (see above), then follow these steps:
    • Fill the bottle with water and warm it up. Do not put the teat on before heating. It is safest to use the Bébé Confort bottle warmer to reach the ideal temperature of 37°.
    • Once warm, add the required quantity of milk and put on the ring and teat.
    • Gently shake the bottle to thoroughly dissolve the powder.
    • Ensure the temperature of the feed is consistent throughout, but don’t just rely on the bottle’s external temperature – always check the temperature by pouring a few drops on your wrist.
    • That’s it! You’ve taken all the necessary precautions and can now enjoy feeding your baby!

  • Safety warning...

    Answer

    We do not recommend using a microwave to heat bottles because there can be significant differences in temperature between the liquid and the bottle. If you do use a microwave, please be especially careful!

  • How should bottles be cleaned?

    Answer

    Before your baby is three months old, always hand wash bottles rather than using a dishwasher.
    Follow these steps:
    • Wash your hands.
    • Rinse the bottle in hot water after feeding, before the milk starts to dry.
    • Scrub it thoroughly in a small amount of soapy water.
    • If dried milk is hard to remove, soak the bottle in very hot soapy water and use a bottle brush with a sponge tip to remove deposits from all the corners.
    • Make sure you rinse the bottles properly and put them upside-down to drain.

  • Should I sterilise my baby’s bottles?

    Answer

    It is crucial to sterilise your baby’s bottles until baby is at least four months old.
    Bottles can be sterilised in the following ways:
    · in an electric or a microwave sterilizer;
    · by boiling in a pan on the hob for several minutes;
    · in cold water using sterilisation tablets. You can leave bottles in the solution for up to 24 hours until you are ready to use them again.

    Remember that baby’s bottles will also have to be thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis.

  • What are bisphenol A and phthalates?

    Answer

    Bisphenol A
    Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical compound found in polycarbonates. It has been used for many years to make plastic objects such as bottles, the inside of drinks cans, and babies’ bottles.
    Polycarbonate has always been used for babies’ bottles because of its transparency and heat-resistance.
    Several studies have shown that BPA is an endocrine disruptor which can cause hormonal and genetic disorders. As a precaution, France stopped the marketing, import and export of baby bottles containing BPA from July 2010.
    From June 2011, European law will also ban the sale of baby bottles containing BPA across Europe. (Directive no. 2011/8/EU).

    Phthalates
    Phthalates are chemical substances used to make PVC material more flexible. Some phthalates are now classified as CMRs (carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic chemicals) and have not been used in toys and childcare articles. since 2007 (Directive No. 2005/84/EC and Regulation EC No. 552/2009).

  • How often should I replace teats?

    Answer

    A teat should last two to three months.
    Causes of wear and tear include:
    • when baby starts to feed more vigorously and has begun teething;
    • variations in temperature;
    • chemical sterilisation;
    • vigorous use of a bottle brush.

    To prolong the life of teats, you can:
    • use the proper teat-rinse bottle brush for gentle cleaning, without using too much force around the openings;
    • avoid prolonged exposure of the teats to air and sunlight;
    • store teats in a drawer or a box when they are thoroughly dry.
