What is IsoFix?
ISOFIX is an international standardized fitting system, which provides the safest, easiest and quickest way to install a child car seat correctly without the need of vehicle seat belts. The name ISOFIX stands for ISO (International Standardization Organization) plus FIX (Fixation). ISOFIX car seats make use of two standard attachment points located at the base of the seat, plus an anti-tipping forward device: either a support leg or top tether. From 2006 all new cars are equipped with ISOFIX, and ISOFIX is also fitted in a large number of car brands built prior to 2006. Find out more about ISOFIX.
How to ensure a correct Top Tether installation ?
What is key is to always check the Top Tether is correctly tight. An green indicator on the Top Tether is ensuring the correct tension. To obtain the best tension of the Top Tether, you should look for the shorter routing, going directly from the top of the car seat to the Top Tether hook (often located on the luggage compartment)We recommend to remove the headrest to avoid deviate the top tether routing from this shorter route, and consequently ensure a very tight installation in any situations.Installing the top tether in between the headrest or on top of the headrest can deviate his natural routing, and be less efficient in case of impact.
What is the right position/height for the harness ?
The harness straps should be placed as close as possible from the shoulders: not too high, not too low. The best position is really at the level of the shoulders. The headrest should be adjusted in consequence, keeping the harness at the level of the shoulders. For your convenience, most of our car seats are equipped with a simultaneous headrest and harness adjustment, so it easier to adjust the harness and the headrest to the right level to offer best protection to the child.
Why do baby and young toddler have to travel in rearward facing position ?
Babies have a large and relatively heavy head compared to the rest of their body. In addition, their neck muscles are not yet fully developed. If the baby is travelling in a forward-facing position, his or her head will be thrown forward in the event of a head-on collision. This can cause serious neck injury and may even be fatal. By placing the baby in a rear-facing position, the forces exerted during the crash will be distributed across the baby’s entire back. It then safer to travel rearward facing with babies until at least 15 months.
The Bébé Confort AxissFix complies with i-Size (R129) regulation. What does that mean ?
i-Size (R129) is a new European regulation, active from July 2013, that aims at increasing children safety in car by supporting rearward facing travelling up to at least 15 months, promoting universal ISOFIX installation, and improving safety standards for additional protection for head and neck. Find out more about i-Size
Why the classification on the Bébé Confort AxissFix is now in length indication (cm) and not in weight (kg)?
The Bébé Confort AxissFix complies with the new i-Size (R129) regulation, and this change is part of i-Size. It is done in order to make it easier for parents to choose the right car seat for their child, and thereby minimize premature up-sizing of the car seat. The size will now be the new reference to choose the correct car seat. Nevertheless, weight are still taken in account as i-Size regulation also mentions that weight of the car seat + weight of the child should not overtake 33kg. Consequently, AxissFix car seat is suitable toddlers from 61 to 105cm length, and maximum 19kg weight.
When can my child switch from an infant car seat to the Bébé Confort AxissFix ?
The Bébé Confort AxissFix is suitable for children from 61cm to 105cm (approx. 4months to 4years). Nevertheless, we encourage you to continue using an infant carrier as long as his head is still protected in the seat as it’s more convenient to move around with you baby (fits on car, but also on strollers) & will bring more comfort and safety to babies due to it ergonomic shape. When the head starts overtaking the shell of the infant carrier, the weight/size of your child exceeds the limit, or when you judge your toddler is too tight on the infant carrier, you can then move your toddler in the AxissFix. Swivel the seat in the rearward facing position to travel with your toddler until 87cm (approx. 2 years) for enhanced head and neck protection.

Why the Bébé Confort AxissFix is not suitable from birth ?
The Bébé Confort AxissFix is a toddler car seat, designed to be used right after a safety carrycot (group 0) or an infant carrier (group 0+). Suitable for toddlers from 61cm length (approx. 4months), the seat is not adapted for new born babies. This choice has been done according to the new i-Size (R129) regulation which has more demanding safety criteria, especially in frontal & lateral impact, and which make hardly impossible to offer the highest level of protection for new born as for toddler in one unique seat. To reach this high demanding safety criteria, and not compromise with comfort, AxissFix has been designed for toddlers from 61cm and not from birth.
My toddler looks very small in this large seat, how can I provide him extra comfort ?
The Maxi-Cosi AxissFix is designed for children from 61 cm length (approx. 4months) up to 105 cm (approx. 4years). At this early age, you may want an additional inlay to provide extra comfort for your toddler. You can then add the AxissFix comfort cushion accessory (sold separately). Made of a super soft Koala fabric, it will help to reduce the seat depth and width, and bring high level of comfort to your toddler up to approximately 6/8 months old.
From when can I use the Bébé Confort AxissFix forward facing ?
Bébé Confort recommends you to use AxissFix car seat as long as possible in a rearward facing position (up to 87cm / approx. 2 years) since this enhances the safety for your child in case of frontal collisions. The AxissFix can be used though in a forward facing position when your child is at least 15 months old, and measure minimum 76cm length. By then the child’s neck is strong enough to withstand the impulsive force of an average frontal collision.
When can I switch The Bébé Confort AxissFix from rearward to forward facing position ?

Why there is a measuring scale (blue/red label) on the Bébé Confort AxissFix cover ? How to read it ?
This measuring scale is an informative label to help you to know when it could be time to switch from rearward facing to forward facing.
